I am now 3 days away from a much-anticipated event – the marriage of my daughter Angela to Zac, a young man that she met during her time in New York City. I blogged about their engagement last November, during Thanksgiving weekend.
This event – like all weddings, and with all parents – is a mixed bag of emotions for both Cindy and me. On one hand, this is the goal, and we couldn’t be more excited for them. On the other hand, it is hard to let her go. I mean, after all, this is the same little girl that told her daddy that she was never going to marry, and that she was always going to stay with him and take care of him!!! :) Well, that was a promise that, deep down, I knew she couldn’t keep, but I have had fun reminding her of that over the years. We named her Angela Joy – and her middle name has always fit her like a glove. She has given us nothing but joy, her entire life. And I am sure that she will continue to do so – now as a married woman, and God willing, as a mother should the Lord give them the desire of their heart.
The picture above was taken in the hospital room as my lovely wife had given birth to our Angela only a few hours earlier. I think it is one of prettiest pictures I have ever seen of a loving mom doting over her baby, but I know I’m quite prejudiced! Still, this picture captures my heart – it was the start of many pauses for wonderment that this little girl brought to our lives.
To all parents of daughters – enjoy them fully, dote over their accomplishments, leave nothing unsaid. These final days are rushing at me like a steam locomotive!!! But I am grateful that I don’t have a regret of love unspoken.
You’all pray for me, OK? Thanks!
Till next time.
